Say Goodbye To Loneliness
Have you been feeling lonely recently?
Perhaps your family members live far away, your spouse is no longer with you or you have physical limitations that prevent you from enjoying the outdoors.
In any case, there are resolutions to solve your loneliness dilemma,
Feeling lonely is a common feeling we all experience on occasion. if you have felt lonely consistently for months and even years, you should take the necessary steps to reduce your loneliness significantly.
Loneliness can gradually build over time if you are increasingly becoming more isolated.
It is very important to remain socially active as you age. Your friends might have passed on and you feel there is no reason to get out of bed in the morning.
There are many senior activities available in your area such as bingo and events at your local church. Search your local newspapers for events you can attend enabling you meet others – you may even strike up a friendship or two along the way.
Another way to become more socially active and reduce your loneliness is by taking a cruise. Taking a cruise with those in your same age group will give you an opportunity to swap stories, show pictures of your grandchildren and so on.
Instead of having breakfast alone in your home, go to a diner, have a cup of coffee at a coffeehouse or get the coffee to go and sit in the park (people watching can be very interesting).
If you feel your loneliness is leading to depression, contact your doctor so they can prescribe medications to help you cope with your feelings. Medications alone will not cure you completely but interaction with others in combination with medications is the answer.
To battle loneliness you cannot sit and do nothing. You must treat your loneliness with the proper action in order for you to feel a part of the world once again.
If you have physical limitations that prevent you from venturing from leaving the house often, make frequent phone calls to your family. Sometimes writing down your feelings in a journal can help you deal with your feelings as well.
You may organize a photo album and create various art projects to keep yourself busy and fulfilled during the course of the day. Keeping yourself busy so there are less frequent “wasted days” should help reduce your loneliness and give you some satisfaction of accomplishment again.
